Jonathan Coyle

Dr. Jon Coyle is one of the newest members of Alaska Radiology Associates, the team of radiologists that serve Providence Alaska Medical Center’s Radiology Department and Providence Imaging Center. Coyle joined ARA in 2002, but he’s not new to Alaska. Coyle was raised in Anchorage and attended East High School with radiologist Chris Kottra, who also returned to Alaska two years ago to work at ARA.

What is unique to both Coyle and Kottra is that they are following in the footsteps of their fathers, Maurice Coyle and John Kottra, who have been involved with Providence for many years.

Coyle did his undergraduate studies at Loyola College in Maryland and Seattle University. He received his M.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, then went on to complete his diagnostic radiology fellowship, a vascular and interventional radiology fellowship and a multi-organ system MRI fellowship from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

“I came back to Anchorage because of my love of the land, people and lifestyle,” said Coyle. “The job is a wonderful opportunity to practice very high quality radiology in an interesting, caring and sophisticated medical community,” he added.

Coyle is the medical director for PIC’s MRI department. “I am proud to have helped develop the superior quality of MRI scanning that PIC produces,” he said. “The technologists and staff I work with at the PIC are dedicated, compassionate and talented. I am lucky to have had such guidance and support.”  Dr. Coyle specializes in MRI and Interventional/Vascular Radiology.

Coyle is married with three children, ranging in age from 4 to 8 years. When not working, he spends time playing with and caring for his family.
